Saturday saw the Predator’s playing at home against Hanwell Villa Spitfires. The table indicated that this should have been a straight forward game for the Predators and so it began with a tidy finish from Edward putting the Predators 1-0 up.

The next 10 minutes proved much more challenging with Hanwell first equalising through an unfortunate own-goal, and then taking the lead 1-2 on 15 mins, despite heroics from stand-in keeper Remi on a number of occasions up to that point.

Going behind was the shock to the system the Predators needed as they regrouped to play some really nice stuff, particularly in the build up to the 2nd goal finished off smartly by Max. Momentum started to shift towards Predators as they took a 3-2 lead from a cross shot from Jack L, sneaking in the top corner, securing the lead before half time. Predators could perhaps count themselves a little lucky to go in at half time a goal up.

The 2nd half started with Hanwell taking the initiative again with a strong period of play from their team. They had some big lads, with a lot of individual ability, and were playing some really nice stuff. The Predators gritted their teeth and showed some real tenacity, working hard off the ball to regain control of the game. 15 minutes into the 2nd half, the next breakthrough finally came with a lovely jinking run and goal from Edward.

A Predators game isn’t complete without an Edward hat-trick these days, and he ably obliged with his 3rd 2 minutes later. Jack pitched in again with a free kick 5 minutes later. The boys were back on a real roll now - Gregory won a penalty, which Remi stepped up from keeping goal to score making it 7-2. The scoring was completed with a floated freekick from Gustav, and a flick on header from Max into the goal.

8-2 was harsh on Hanwell, but a fine reward for a great performance from everyone in the team, particularly in the 2nd half from Predators. Special additional mentions for Alfie’s commitment, vision and distribution from the back, Aaron linking play across midfield, neat possession and pressing from Ollie, Jack competing hard for every 50/50, Barney’s tenacity and fight, Zack’s reading of the game breaking up play and recycling in support of the attack.
