Dew covered the ground for this morning’s local derby, but nothing could dampen the She-Wolves’ enthusiasm as they arrived at Finchampstead hungry for another win.
Thea opened the scoring inside four minutes, bringing her trademark grace and dominance down the wing. Cali followed soon after with a strike that hit the net with enough force to send the birds scattering from the surrounding trees!
At times, the first half became an exhibition of the two Harriets. Harriet G dictated the tempo at CDM, frustrating the opposition with her almost operatic footwork. Harriet W found her stride with an extraordinary forward run past seven of Finchampstead’s eight outfield players — a powerful demonstration of what happens when she gets moving.
As half-time approached, a little hesitation in possession saw the Wolves briefly loosen their grip on the game. But the pack returned for the second half with renewed purpose and a dominant display.
Cali took the instruction to “let it rip” quite literally, firing home twice more to complete her first hat-trick of the season.
Emily then delivered a picture-perfect striker’s finish, sending the volume on the touchline soaring as spectators celebrated another superb goal.
Finchampstead made the most of a rare moment of Pinewood hesitation late on to claim their only goal, before Thea rounded off the scoring. Following a handball in front of the opposition goal, she calmly tucked her penalty into the corner to seal an emphatic 6–1 victory.
Three consecutive wins and a game in hand see the She-Wolves march into their next fixture with growing confidence and a real opportunity to challenge at the top of the league.
